My name is Cody. I am a Canadian, 24-year-old wannabe-cat-lady currently living in Bristol, UK. I teach tiny humans for a living. Throughout my life, the two main constants have been my love for both cats and food. If I could find a way to get paid to pet cats and eat, I would do it, trust me.
I have been vegetarian since I was 13 and have been “vegan-ish” for around two years. I am currently trying to be more “vegan” and less “ish”.
I have always loved writing. When I was little, I was always making “books” out of stapled-together printer paper, or writing stories about my cat on the family computer (remember when that was a thing)? Later, I subjected my poor teachers and classmates to readings from an epic story about elves co-written by myself and my best friend. As a teen, I filled my notebooks with very cringeworthy poetry about boys who didn’t like me. Currently, I blog about my life as a Canadian teacher in England.
Vegan High Fives is my latest project. It’s inspired by all the friends and family members who have ever asked me for recipe advice, those who have thought about going vegetarian, or who have asked me how I could possibly not eat cheese.
My aim is to inspire you to eat more plants. I want to prove that a vegan diet isn’t ‘extreme’ or ‘crazy’, as I once thought. I think veganism can seem like an exclusive club, only open to the most devout and meticulous of eaters. But let’s be honest. Jumping headfirst into a vegan diet is not for everyone, and that’s okay! A small change is better than no change, and I hope that we can try to do just a little better together –` for the animals, for the planet, and for ourselves!
So come, join me, take my hand (okay, maybe don’t do that) and together we will discover a whole new world of food — Aladdin and Jasmine style.
We’ve got this!
